NEW FEATURE VIDEO! “Sight-Fishing Egg Eating Cutthroat Trout & Hunting Big Bull Trout – Kootenay River, BC Canada”

Sight-fishing cutthroat trout in behind spawning kokanee, watching cutts forcing the kokanee to shed their eggs then circling back to eat the eggs is right up our alley. We managed to film enough of it to share here – it’s all really neat stuff in the fishy world.

We stayed over for a second day, an attempt at catching a huge bull trout. As you’ll see, close… close… close… nah. Tough conditions with an abrupt COLD weather change, gin-clear water, low flows, etc etc etc (excuses….). But the river shows well, cutts were caught on streamers and it’s an informative bit of how we went about things.

Amelia guided Marty Smith on a local brown trout stream this summer. Marty shared he was soon to open (and is now) the Peaks & Creeks Fly Shop in Canal Flats, BC, epi-center to a lot of the great cutthroat & bull trout rivers of the East Kootenays (St Mary, Bull, Skookumchuk, Wigwam, Elk River, tributaries, etc) and close to many of SE BC’s popular still waters (lakes). Once we heard, it was a natural to offer to head out to fish with Marty and see if we couldn’t film something of interest with him.
