NEW SPECIAL FEATURE: “TAKE IT ON & PLAY IT AGAIN” – Looking at the “Fun with Issues” Aspect of the High Country

On the surface this video is about a Canadian couple (an important distinction, to be sure) that has been traveling for two decades going for a gorgeous drive, then a hike in before fishing the main river at the mouth of a tributary, then walking and fishing that tributary upstream back to their van.
At that core, please enjoy this video for exactly that. Footloose and free to wander. The world still has these opportunities. Life is there to be lived, take it on and each live our best life.
There really are 3 aspects of this video we see value in sharing. The first is about the fishing, the how & why-to, when at this location. Second is having a distinct look at the “knowing” aspect of this entire outing/mission. Long-time Patron here Rick Bobrick & I have had ongoing discussion about the concept of “knowing” and I’ve somewhat skirted part of the discussion, particularly as it pertains to New Zealand, because I don’t want to impact anyone else’s outing. But, I’ll share a touch more on the concept of “knowing” as it pertains to this outing, our choices/focuses and why as we take the route we do this day. That directly leads to the third aspect of this day and ties in to why the waters and lands accessed in New Zealand has shrunk considerably for us – we share that evolution. This is all inter-woven into why we choose to go to this water in these conditions, there’s a lot to consider, especially today.
Let’s dig in.
As we share in the opening, we deliberately drive to this reach of water when the weather isn’t great, rather marginal, but certainly not after a heavy rain event and certainly no longer on sunny days. How and why this came to be our parameters forces a look at the three factors we outlined above.
